How to Build a Paintball Gun

How to Build a Paintball Gun

Although you see them being sold in stores, you can build a paintball gun on your own. For this project, you’re going to need the following.

Required Tools and Materials

Drill
1” PVC pipe (6 ft)
Concrete mix
2 PVC elbows
Primer
1” PVC end cap
Saw
Plumber’s glue
Plumber’s tape
Screws
Screwdrivers
¾” ball valve
¾” nipple
2 PVC tees
Tire replacement valve

For clarification, the PVC tees will be called tee A and tee B. The straight end sections of tee A will be called tee A1 and tee A2. The perpendicular will be tee A3. Tee B’s straight end components will be called tee B1 and tee B2. Tee B3 is the perpendicular.

Step 1

Cut two parts from the 1” PVC pipe (a foot long each). To build a paintball gun successfully, you need to cover any threads with the glue. Get the PVC elbows and apply primer and cement on them. Combine them with the pipe.

Step 2

Get the two PVC tees. Join the ends marked tee A3 and tee B1 to the end of the pipes. Grab the other ends and combine them with the plumber’s glue. You’ll end up with a box like shape.

Step 3

Attach a nipple to the tee B2 section. Screw the nipple on the ball valve. To make the gun barrel, take the PVC pipe and fasten it to the valve. Make sure it’s tight.

Step 4

Using the drill, make a hole in the end cap so the tire valve can fit in. Insert the tire valve. Put some glue on to keep the valve in place. If you’re going to build a paintball gun, the valve must
be correctly set in the end cap.

Step 5

Cut 9” from the 1” PVC pipe. Hold the tee A2 and cement it to the PVC you cut. Cement the PVC on the end cap. The cement mix needs a couple of days to dry. When it’s dry, you can start using the gun.

Tips

Practice the paintball gun before using it in play. Try it on bottles, containers etc. first. If it works, you can start building other models for your friends. Or you can teach them how to build a paintball gun.

Warnings

Don’t use rusty and worn out pipes; there’s no telling what might happen if you use them in play. If you want bigger guns, you can get a larger pipe. However the drying time is still the same. Using the paintball gun before it dries might cause a malfunction.

The Playing Area

Choose a site with plenty of room for players to maneuver. Make sure only the participating players get hit. Don’t smear paint on any object not in play. Paintball games have varying rules; set it down before the game so all the players know the regulations.

Learning how to build a paintball gun is not just fun; you also get to save money. Moreover, your friends will be impressed by your skills.
